By the way, Rick Warren is the Christian author of the devotional book, “The Purpose Driven Life”. The topic bear fruitful of lines and lessons. It outlined morals which are can be applied generally in life and not just specific to our everyday work. The items below were taken from the 51-minute video of Rick Warren’s lecture.

Solomon’s Wisdom: 8 Principles from Proverbs

1. Check the Bible (Revelation). Ask: What does God say?
“It is the Lord who gives wisdom; from Him come knowledge and understanding. He provides help and protection for those who are righteous and honest.” Pr. 2:6-7 (TEV)
“A man is foolish to trust himself. But those who use God’s wisdom are safe.” Pr. 28:26 (LB)
Quotable quotes: “Feelings aren’t facts.”, “Stop listening to voice; start reading verse.”

2. Get the facts (Information). Ask: What do I need to know? How do I find it?
“Every prudent mans acts out of knowledge.” Pr. 13:16 (NIV)
“How stupid to decide before knowing the facts!” Pr. 18:13 (LB)
“Sensible people are careful to stay out of trouble, but stupid people are careless and act too quickly.” Pr. 14:16 (TEV)
Quotable quote: “Pressure is never from God.”

3. Ask for advice (Consultation). Ask: Who could advise me?
“Plans succeed through good counsel; don’t go to war without the advice of others.” Pr. 20:18 (NLT)
“Without advice plans go wrong, but with many advisers they succeed.” Pr. 15:22 (GW)
“The more advice you get, the more likely you are to win.” Pr. 24:6b (TEV)
Quotable quote: “Talk to people who already made the same decision.”

4. Set a goal (Selection). Ask: What’s my goal and milestone?
“An intelligent person aims at wise actions, but a fool starts off in many directions.” Pr. 17:24 (TEV)
“Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; then stick to the path and stay safe. Don’t get sidetracked.” Pr. 4: 25-27 (NLT)

5. Count the cost (Evaluation). Ask: Is it worth it?
“It is foolish and rash to make a promise to the Lord before counting the cost.” Pr. 20:25 (LB)
Quotable quotes: “It’s always easier to get in than to get out”; “Take the time to make the right decision.”

6. Plan for problems (Preparation). Ask: What could go wrong? What will happen if it does?
“A sensible man watches for problems ahead and prepares to meet them. The simpleton never looks and suffers the consequences.” Pr. 22:3 (LB)
Quotable quote: “Hope for the best; prepare for the worst.”

7. Face my fears (Confrontation). Ask: What am I afraid of?
“Fear of man is a dangerous trap, but to trust in God means safety.” Pr. 22:3 (LB)
Quotable quotes: “The root of all indecision is fear.”; “You do the thing you fear the most.”

8. Step out in faith (Initiation). Ask: Where do I need to trust God?
“Trust the Lord with all your heart, and don’t depend on your own understanding. Remember the Lord in all you do, and He will give you success.” Pr. 3:5-6 (NCV)
Quotable quotes: “Courage is moving ahead.”; “We become whatever we’re committed to.”

At the latter part of the 51-minute video, Rick Warren stated… “There’s a next step for you. God didn’t bring you here tonight or today just just to say this and have you don’t do anything about it.” You…what’s your next step?
